Passaic City Hall, Passaic, New JerseyTRENTON, N.J. – Former Passaic City Council member Marcellus Jackson was sentenced on Monday to a federal prison term of 25 months, for accepting bribes in exchange for his official assistance in attempting to steer public insurance brokerage contracts to an FBI undercover business, Acting U.S. Attorney Ralph J. Marra, Jr. announced.

Passaic City HallTRENTON, NJ – Former Passaic Councilman Jonathan Soto was sentenced on Friday to 75 months in federal prison for his conviction on charges of accepting approximately $44,500 in bribe payments, extortion, and attempted drug possession, Acting U.S. Attorney Ralph J. Marra, Jr., announced.

U.S. District Judge Anne E. Thompson also ordered Soto, 33, to pay a $5,000 fine and to serve three years of supervised release with the condition that he not hold public office during his term of supervision.
