NEWARK, N.J. – Maximo Diaz, age 22, of Newark, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to conspiring to defraud the United States Department of the Treasury by filing phony tax returns which generated over $200,000 in fraudulent income tax refund checks for himself and co-conspirators, with the aid of an accomplice in the Passaic branch of Valley National Bank.

Marra, Jr. announced.
